Chinese New Year

Been a couple of week since I posted but it’s not from lack of card making. I just need to remember to take photos before I pass the cards on! Today’s post is of a Chinese New Year card I made for a family friend. Love how it came together – shame the photo just doesn’t do it justice! The colour would you believe, is SU’s gorgeous Cherry Cobbler but I just couldn’t get the colour right. The Dragon is an All Night Media stamp and sentiment is one of SU’s Teen Tiny Sentiments!
A close-up of the embossing – I used an Egyptian Gold embossing powder from my stash – love all the sparkle!

Christmas Sparkle

Can’t believe that it has been a month since I last posted anything here. Some of you may recall that I had a Christmas card order for my SIL - no real guidelines other than the cards were needed. As they were for Helen’s business and for her ’diamond club members’ I searched the business website for colours/ideas and decided on a white, purple and bling theme and this is what half of the cards looked like. Image is from the Papertrey Ink Holiday Sparkle stamp set, sentiment is by Artee Stamps.

30th Wedding Anniversary

It seems I am all about clean and simple at the moment. Do you go through phases like that? This card I’ve made for my SIL & BIL’s 30th Wedding Anniversary – one heart for each decade! I’ve used SU’s Cherry Cobbler (although it’s not quite looking right in my photo) as I just love the richness of the colour, SU’s full heart punch and a Stamp It sentiment. Too easy!

A Jolly Farewell!

Had a request from a friend for a “bagpipe” farewell card for her 17yr old Grandson who’ll be heading off to Germany early in the new year as an exchange student for a little over 1 year. I found this real cute image at Sassy Cheryl’s Digi’s, coloured with SU Markers and combined with SU cardstock (Chocolate Chip & Night of Navy), some nestabilities die-cuts and a Music EF by Sizzix. I was going to add some brads but then thought better of it being as Ryan will likely be taking the card with him in hand luggage etc. I think it’s sometimes weird how a camera interprets colours as on the preview on the camera the blue looked more like a brilliant blue than the deep, rich Night of Navy, thankfully though it looks more true to form in the photo here!

Don’t Open ’till Dec 25th

Well, it’s been quite some time since I last posted on here … nearly a month. It’s not that I haven’t been making cards, I’ve just been quite busy! So, anyway, today I have a clean and simple Papertrey Ink/Stampin’ Up! project – using PTI’s Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers for the sentiment and the fabulous Make a Wish die and combining them with some retired SU DSP, Very Vanilla & Real Red cardstock and ink, throw in a Nestabilites die and I’ve come up with this clean and simple card. I’m going to try this design in various colours I think.

Made for Annette for her birthday. Stamped and embossed the image and sentiment on some canvas paper before sponging and spritzing with Spun Sugar Smooch Spritz. Had great fun making this one for you Annette – hope you like it!

New goodies to play with …

I was host at stamp club last month so ordered lots of goodies including the Build a Flower punch and matching stamp set. I had a bit of time on Saturday to play and this is my first creation with these goodies. I love all the layers.

Products used to create this card – SU Stamps – Build a Blossom, Punches – Build a blossom, Photo Corners (retired), Ink/Cardstock – Perfect Plum & Elegant Eggplant, white from my stash, Accessories – Basic Jewels Pearls, Smooch Spritz – Vanilla Shimmer and finally some Robin’s Nest Grass & Leaves Dew Drops.

French Possibilities

Taking from what I learnt at stamp club with Andrea on Sunday, I used the basic idea to create this card. I lurve the end result and plan to try out this basic card in different colour combinations. Thanks Andrea for another great class!

My cousin’s son Ryan recently passed his driving test and is now a registered driver on the road, so I made him this card of congratulations! Yep, you guessed it … I made another thick chipboard accent, this time using Papertrey Ink’s Enjoy the Ride stamp set and matching die, and combining these with Stampin’ Up!’s Soft Sky cardstock and some white from my stash.
I’ve just ordered the blossom builder punch and matching stamps from Stampin’ Up! … I can’t wait to try this technique with them!

I think I am in love … with home-made thick chipboard accents! lol Every card I’ve made since last week has one of these in various forms on it. Today’s card was made using the Papertrey Ink Teapot Die & Big and Bold Wishes stamp set combining these with some Stampin’ UP! DSP and ink, quite quick and easy and I love the clean and simple lines!
